Aluminium Bahrain (Alba)'s role in strengthening commercial ties with industrial units in Pakistan, and enlarging the scope of economic co-operation between the two countries was discussed during a visit by a 25-member delegation from the Pakistan Navy to the Alba plant on Monday, March 8, 2010.

The delegation were from the 39th Pakistan Navy Staff Course organised for senior naval officers at the Pakistan Navy War College, Lahore, Pakistan. They were led by Rear Admiral Sayed Bashir Ahmad, and were accompanied by the Deputy Head of Mission at the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, Muhammad Saleem.

Commenting on the visit by the Pakistani Naval delegation, Alba Chief Executive, Laurent Schmitt said:
"Bahrain and Pakistan share ties that go way back in history, and the relationship remains strong to this day. The economic ties between the two countries continue to show encouraging growth, and we discussed ways in which Alba could contribute towards boosting commercial and technological co-operation with industrial bodies in Pakistan.
The Pakistani naval delegation was given a tour of the smelter, and was also briefed on the process of aluminium production. They expressed appreciation at the positive impact Alba has been making on the economic, industrial and community life in Bahrain.
